Friday 3 March
Supported by Mick Turner
Mick Turner: 7pm
Kurt Vile: 8pm
Philadelphia’s Kurt Vile is making his return to Australia, performing songs from his six-album songbook solo against the stunning backdrop of Sydney harbour supported by Mick Turner at Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ.
Stemming from a childhood spent with a banjo in hand, Kurt Vile’ s unique brand of hazy indie-rock has seen an upward trajectory from his debut solo album Constant Hitmaker (2008) to his latest b’lieve i’m goin down… (2015), which features the incredible single ‘Pretty Pimpin’ – one which The Guardian called “a great summation of his ingenious-weirdo appeal”– also including two albums as founding member of The War On Drugs.
Mick Turner will be performing his highly acclaimed solo work at Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ. He has had a dynamic and celebrated career as founding member of Dirty Three and simultaneously with his solo project, releasing four LPs on the iconic US label Drag City (Bill Callahan, Joanna Newsom, Ty Segall) with The Australian labelling him “one of Australia’s most distinctive guitarists.”
