The Sports: 7pm
Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons: 8.20pm
Two legendary Australian rock outfits from the 70s and 80s come together for a co-headline show during the opening weekend of Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ, both Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Sports are set to grace the Taronga stage for two lively performances under the stars, overlooking Sydney Harbour.
Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons made their mark on the Australian music landscape with their unique blend of rock ‘ n’ roll, soulful sax and reggae rhythms. The seminal band has performed only a handful of times since their zenith, so this Twilight performance offers a rare opportunity to witness the classic line-up of Joe Camilleri (aka Jo Jo Zep), Jeff Burstin, Tony Faehse, John Power, Wilbur Wilde and Gary Young performing together.
Melburnian new-wave-meets-pub-rock group The Sports launched their career in 1978, spawning 13 singles in four years, including the hits ‘Strangers on a Train,’ ‘Who Listens to the Radio’ and ‘Don’t Throw Stones.’ The band had four albums reach the Top 40, and their acclaimed sophomore release Don’t Throw Stones (1979) was ranked #51 in the 2010 book 100 Best Australian Albums. Their Twilight performance will mark The Sports’ first Sydney show in 30 years.
